Biography
Aedin Culhane, PhD, is a Professor of Cancer Genomics at the University of Limerick School of Medicine and Director of the Limerick Digital Cancer Research Center. She is a computational oncologist with over 20 years of experience in cancer genomics, including 15 years at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard University. Prof Culhane’s research focuses on developing computational and statistical methods to analyze and integrate multi-omics data, to discover molecules and pathways active in tumour development, progression, and treatment resistance.
Prof. Culhane is leading efforts in federated sharing of genomics and healthcare data through the Irish-node of EU Genomics Data Infrastructure. She is the lead of the All-Island eHealth Hub for Cancer, a North South Research Program with Prof Mark Lawler at Queen University Belfast. The eHealth Hub for Cancer is developing federated digital health data solutions to connect clinical data across centres to enhance patient care and expand access to clinical trials.
