Abstract:

Speaker Bio:
Alumnus of University of Ulster (MSc Biomedical) and University College Cork (BSc Biomedical), Conor has over 20 years of experience working in pathology laboratories in Ireland. Having started his career in the Microbiology Department in Bon Secours Hospital Cork he ventured over the border to Tipperary to work in the multi-discipline laboratories at both Our Lady’s Surgical Hospital, Cashel, and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Clonmel. During his time in Tipperary he was involved in implementing ISO15189 in the Blood Transfusion Department, and in amalgamating the laboratories of both sites to a single site in the newly named South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel.
In 2016 Conor transferred to Cork University Hospital where he now works as a Senior Medical Scientist in the Haematology Laboratory. He has been involved in maintaining ISO15189 accreditation, validation of a number on analysers including the XN9000 line in 2016 and preparing for the ‘new’ Blood Sciences Laboratory that is currently in the process of development.
